Surface Scratches, Inclusions and Discolouration

Linoleum is crafted from natural raw materials like linseed oil, cork, and wood flour, which can occasionally result in minor inclusions or subtle colour variations. These small, natural markings are inherent to the material and cannot be completely eliminated. Small inclusions are characteristic of linoleum and should be appreciated as natural elements, much like the grain in wood, rather than flaws. In the supply chain, it’s common for surface scratching to occur. Scratching will occur in use, and over time a patina will form, much like leather. Certain lighter shades of linoleum, particularly Pure Linoleum, may deepen in colour over time, reflecting the organic beauty of materials that mature gracefully. If you are looking for a desktop surface that will arrive and remain in a pristine state, we recommend considering our Formica Desktop options instead, as they offer a highly durable finish with minimal ageing characteristics.

Forbo Aroma

The distinctive scent comes from the natural linseed oil used in the linoleum’s production. This subtle fragrance is most noticeable when the furniture is first unpacked but will gradually fade within a few weeks.

Yellowish Tint

During the curing process, linoleum can develop a temporary yellowish cast known as “drying room yellowing.” This effect, more noticeable in lighter shades, is a normal characteristic that fades with exposure to direct sunlight. If the surface is partially covered by objects like monitors or mouse pads, this yellowing may recur but will quickly diminish once exposed to natural light. Note that this effect cannot be removed through cleaning, as only sunlight can restore the original colour.

Edge Profile: Our standard chamfered edges add an elegant touch, but straight edges are available through customisation.

Thickness: Each desk is a solid 26mm, offering durability and stability.

Length: We offer desktops up to 240cm long. For lengths of 190cm or more, we recommend adding a support beam.

Corner Radius: Rounded corners are available in three radii options.

Finish: Birch ply edges are smoothly sanded and finished with Danish oil, while the Forbo top offers a beautiful, soft-to-touch surface that is tactile for writing and drawing.

How to Order Your Custom Desk

1) PICK A SIZE: Select one of the standard sizes or one of the 'Custom' options: enter your desired width and length.

2) CHOOSE A COLOUR: Select one of the 24 beautiful Forbo colours

3) ADD 60mm CABLE HOLES: Select Left, Middle, Right or None.

4) SELECT FRONT CORNERS STYLE: Select 3mm, 10mm, or 50mm radii.

5) SELECT BACK CORNERS STYLE: Select 3mm, 10mm, or 50mm radii.

6) SELECT STRAIGHT EDGES: Select Left, Right, Front, or Back.

Forbo Furniture Linoleum

Forbo Furniture Linoleum is a high-quality, natural surfacing material designed specifically for furniture applications. Made from a blend of renewable raw materials like linseed oil, wood flour, and natural pigments, Furniture Linoleum is an environmentally responsible choice that aligns with sustainable design principles. Its matte, slightly textured surface offers a soft, tactile feel that brings a warm, inviting quality to any workspace or living area.

Furniture Linoleum is available in a wide range of contemporary, muted colours that complement modern interiors. Forbo Furniture Linoleum is valued for adding a sense of understated elegance, making it a premium choice for our eco-conscious customers.

Each desk underside is finished with a matte white liner laminate for a clean and consistent look.

Birch Ply

Our desks feature high-quality Birch ply sourced from Riga Wood in Latvia. This sustainably sourced plywood is made using Riga ECOlogical resin, which incorporates bio-based, renewable lignin, reducing reliance on fossil-based phenols. This eco-conscious choice aligns with our commitment to sustainability without compromising on durability.

Delivery to most of mainland UK is included in the price you see. For deliveries to Scottish Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland, please email info@plyzen.co.uk before placing an order to get a delivery cost.

Typically, our dispatch times are:

Legs	2-4 weeks
Desktops	4 weeks
Raw kitchen fronts	4 weeks
Laminated kitchen fronts	6-8 weeks
Veneered kitchen fronts	6-8 weeks
Lacquered Kitchen fronts	6-8 weeks

If you are on a tight deadline, please contact us before ordering. We will try our best to meet your deadline if our workshop schedule allows.

We use DPD and Proovia for most desktops, DPD for legs, and pallet delivery for larger desktop and kitchen fronts. At checkout, please provide your email address and mobile phone number so the courier can update you with delivery information.

Desktops sent with DPD and Proovia are packaged in a crate and will need to be unscrewed. With the packaging, larger desktops can weigh up to 60kg. Please make sure you are able to receive an item of this weight and size. The rigidity of this packaging is required to protect the desktop through the courier network.

DPD or Proovia will usually contact you with a delivery time slot. You are able to change this time with DPD or Proovia directly.

Standard pallet deliveries will not be at a specific time, they can be anytime 9am to 5pm. Pallets are delivered to kerbside only, so you will need to unpack and move items to your home. It is essential that you are able to receive the delivery. If the delivery is missed, we reserve the right to charge for redelivery up to £250 (This is imposed by the carrier). We do offer premium pallet delivery options:

A three-hour window within the span of 10am – 5pm (Eg 1-4pm) for £21.
A specific delivery time within the span of 10am - 5pm for £41. Delivery can be be either 30 mins before or 30 mins after chosen time.

In the unlikely event that there is visible damage to the parcel or pallet packaging, please indicate this to the driver. For pallet deliveries, also note the damage on the delivery paperwork. If parts are damaged or missing in transit, please let us know within 24hrs of the delivery time, this way we can claim for damages with the carrier. Beyond this time, we can't pursue a claim and we'll assume all parts have been delivered without damage.
